I have a bone to pick...

with the person who decided that holding Sacrament meeting LAST was a good idea.

Before baby, it wouldn't have even phased me.

Now, it's torture. By that third hour Remington is so done and not afraid to let everyone know it.

At least he looked cute today.

2 Months

Dear Remington,
I can not get over how stinking cute you are. I forget sometimes that you are ONLY two and a half months old. As of now you have already doubled your birth weight, weighing in at a hefty 16 1/2 lbs. You are a dense little guy. We wouldn't expect anything less. I have so much fun with you all day while Daddy works. You are the most fun bright and early in the morning. It's those sweet smiles and contagious giggles that make getting up bearable. You love to sit in your bumbo and watch intently as I fold laundry and finish chores. I love our mid morning naps snuggled up on the corner of the couch. You love our long after noon walks out in the warm sun. I love watching you reach out for your toys. You love my silly voices when we read books together. I love the way you study my face. You love to dance around with me in the living room listening to The Beatles and The Beach Boys. You don't like it when I sing...
I love your soft snores when you sleep and your big smiles when I kiss your lips. You love bath time but hate when it's over. I love how much your Dad loves you. I love it when you look up at me when your nursing and grin. You love hearing new sounds and seeing new things. I love the way you smell and how you always have to be touching me when you sleep. I love that you are sleeping through the night. I love when you get the hiccups because it reminds me of when you had them inside me not so long ago. I love your long hair, wide eyes and your squishy tummy. I love when you sneeze and it startles you. I love when you're about to cry and you push out your bottom lip. I love being your Momma. I am so happy to call you mine forever. I cherish these little moments we have together and I am so excited to watch you grow and take on this world around you. No matter what, you will always be my big little baby.

Mothers Day

My first Mother's day was lovely. David made me german pancakes and gifted me a little potted flower to put in our sunny kitchen windowsill. He also wrote me a beautiful poem. :) It was also our first Sunday in our new ward! Remington made sure to fill the silence with his adorable cooing. We were cracking up the whole time. After church we took a family nap and David had to work the rest of the day. My friend Carlie's husband had to work as well, so she came over and her sweet little Olivia. We ate delicious food and played with our darling  babes. I love my little family and I'm so happy to be a Momma.

yes, we named our son after a gun.

I can not even tell you how many conversations we've had with so many people that go a little something like this...

Random Stranger: "aww, your baby is so cute."
Me: "Thank you."
Random Stranger: "He's so big, how old is he?"
Me: "2 months."
Random Stranger: "What's his name?"
Me: "Remington"
Random Stranger: "........Remington.......Isn't that a gun company?"
Me:" Yes, yes it is."
Random Stranger: ".....so you guys like guns?"
Me: " Yes. Yes we do"

I didn't think the name "Remington" was that unusual, but it seems to be the common reaction when we tell people his name. So, that being said, I thought I'd share the story of how and why we picked our little mans name.

It all goes back to my Dad. He is an avid hunter/gun man. To save he loves them would be an understatement. He's really good a shooting them too. He would take our family out in the desert to shoot stuff for FHE. We spent our daddy daughter dates at the shooting range where he taught me everything there is to know about guns. He wanted to make sure I was well educated before I headed up here for school so I could impress the boys. (sure enough, it did!) I remember him telling me once that if he and my mom ever had another boy, he wanted to name him Remington. I loved the name. I loved it so much I added it to my list of baby names. (doesn't every 17 year old girl have a list? probably just me...)
When we learned I was pregnant I realized that I was really picky about names. I didn't want a common "popular" name but I didn't want a weird-totally-out-there-what-the-crap-where-you-thinking kind of name either. I wanted a name that was different, strong and most importantly had a lot of meaning. It's actually kind of nerve racking naming someone who A.) you've never seen before and B.) will be referred to that said name for the rest of their life. I shared my list with David. He loved them all.

When we found out baby was a boy we agreed on Remington. It fit our criteria. We love that it's a strong name. We love that it's different but not far out there. And most importantly, I love that it reminds me of my close relationship with my Dad. I started calling Remington by name for the rest of my pregnancy. When he was finally born, it felt so natural and it seemed to suit him well.

Now two months has gone by and we've come up with some fun nicknames like:

Rem Rem
Rem Dog Millionaire
(like Eminem haha. you should hear how David raps about that one. hilarious.)

and finally my favorite,

The Reminator.

Can you just hear that over the loud speaker at a HS football game??

"Remington "THE REMINATOR" Olsen!!!!!!"

We love our sweet Remington and can't imagine calling him anything else.
