naming Olive Lou

Olive: Latin origin meaning "symbol of peace"  Lou: French origin meaning"warrior"

I was so excited when we found out that we were having a girl. I was even more excited that we got to choose a name for her. Right after the ultrasound I returned to our list of names (which has since turned into a running list on my iphone so that whenever I hear a name I like I can write it down and reference it quickly) and we went back and forth between a few for a couple weeks. Olivia was one of them. I have been obsessed with that name for a very long time. Even though I loved it so much, I hated that it had become so popular. It has been in the top 5 baby girl names for the past six years! Not that I have anything against popular or trending names, I just hated that I was always the 3rd or 4th "Jessica" in my classes growing up and I didn't want that for her.
Anyways, one day while I was chatting with one of my girlfriends (who's oldest daughters' named Olivia haha) about baby names and my rant/dilemma about loving the name Olivia she asked, "well what about Olive?" I thought for a moment, what about Olive? It was certainly different, definitely not popular and even a little old fashioned. I loved it immediately and David loved it too. We found out later that there was an Olive way back in our family tree...get it? Olive tree...haha...ok, moving on.
For her middle name we selected Lou after David's Grandma Lula.
And thus came about Olive Lou. I love it so much.
When I saw her scrunched up chubby little face for the first time, I knew that it was perfect.
Our sweet little Olive Lou, I love HER so much.
In the 9 months that she's been with us she has already lived up to the meaning of her name,
 "peaceful warrior."
It suits her so well.
As do her many nicknames which include:
YouYou (what Remington calls her)
Olive Juice
Juicy (our favorite)
Juicy Juice
Juicy J
Juicy Lou

and just for kicks, how we chose Remington's name here.

Mother's Day (a week late)

Mother's day was sweet this year.
I was gifted with beautiful flowers, handmade cards and my favorite chocolates.
I didn't have to change a diaper or wash a load of laundry all weekend.
I love my little family so much.
I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be a momma to my two beautiful babies.
It's a hard, stressful and amazingly rewarding calling to be a momma.
I'm so thankful for the example my momma has set for me and I love that she is only a phone call away when I  need someone to talk/cry/complain to.
She is my rock and my best friend.
Love you Momma!

a few more photos from AZ

Get me back in that SUNSHINE!!! Arizona in the spring is a dream. As you can see, we literally spent most our days in the water. At this rate, we will be doing the same thing here in Idaho in approximately 6 months. Come on Summer!

8 months

Dear Olive,
At 8 months old you are FINALLY CRAWLING!!!!!!!!!
Not only are you crawling and rolling everywhere you also started cruising along all the furniture.
You love to be standing and are getting brave walking from couch to ottoman to the wall.
Gosh you are so cute.
You started waving this month too.
Your chubby little wrists moving in a circular motion is the CUTEST.
Seriously, you kill me every day.
You LOVE to eat, pasta and cheese or any combination of the two are your favorite.
You currently have 6 razor sharp teeth, 4 on top and 2 on bottom.
You are wearing 2T and some 3T size clothing, although since you started moving, you chub is going down so you can wear some of your smaller clothes a little longer. yay!
You love being outside, swimming the pool and eating whatever your chubby little fingers can find.
Currently you are fascinated will hair pulling, especially Remington's.
Thank goodness he is such a good sport about it, because you have a STRONG grip.
You also enjoy sticking your fingers in other peoples noses, mouth and other orifices.
You are still an amazing sleeper and take 3 naps a day.
We swaddle to sleep but we always find you with your left arm over your head.
I seriously don't know how you get it out because Dad wraps you so tightly.
At 8 months you bust a move every time you hear anything with a beat.
Your little head bobbing around and you chubbs swaying to the music, you got some serious rhythm little girl.
You started saying "daaadaa" and you always cry for "moooma"
You nuzzle your head into our necks when we say "give us loves"
Your open mouth kisses make my day, also your giggle and your toothy grin and your thick juicy thighs.
Basically, i'm obsessed with you.
8 months was an awesome one.
Love you little lady,
